Located in the Historic Center of the fascinating Etruscan town of Todi, this penthouse apartment is only 2 minutes walk from Piazza Del Popolo, the main town square.
It flaunts a prestigious position, occupying the original attic of Palazzo Orsini, one of the older buildings in the Region. The foundation rests on Roman remains of an ancient cistern wall devised to supply the town with water in the days of aqueducts.
In Medieval times, the area was home to the local market with the niches affording stalls for vendors. The building itself is newly restored, as is the apartment, but all the original elements have been carefully preserved such as the astonishing, immense wooden beams estimated to be over 500 years in antiquity.
In addition to these historic footnotes, this treasure is lovingly furnished with exquisite antiques from diverse epochs.
Touches of local Italian crafts and artwork include the intricately worked and superbly detailed wrought iron railing, locally produced ceramics and old world objects d'art.
Along with antiquity, all the comforts of home are also to be found here. Although there are 2 bedrooms, one bath, this gem is best enjoyed as a hide away for 2. The kitchen is fully functional and towels and linens are supplied.
One word of caution. Elevators were futuristic imaginings when this apartment was constructed so be prepared for 2 full flights of steps.
